12 miles w/ 8 x 400.
Usually might have started with a couple 71's or 72's or something, but I've got this bonehead idea that I'm going to try to go sub 4:40 at the GBTC Invite master's mile this Sunday and hopefully, if there's room, run the Indoor Games mile on Feb. 5th.
I started with 2 69's (4:36 pace) to see what that kind of turnover really felt like and it was quick step-wise, but considering the first ones always feel rough and the fact that I ran 20 only 2 days ago, I wasn't unhappy. Then I went 68,68,68, 67, 67 and 66. All in good stride and even throughout.
The left hammy acted up a little, but not too bad. Can I go sub 4:40? I'd be lying if I said I had no doubt, but after this workout, I think that if I'm thrown onto a track with a bunch of fast guys, I can do it. Kind of excited about this. The mile has always been a bit of a weird albatross for me, especially considering my sprint speed, which though not legendary or anything, has been a consistent thing I can call on late in races. Now I get to test it out for 8 laps on a short track.

Nice work!
I'd say no slower than mid 4m30's but I've never run indoors so what do I know!
Ha! Thanks man!
I've never run a track race indoors or out. Not to mention this one's on a 200 meter track, so it's going to feel like one perpetual turn (or 32 of them in fact.) I once ran a road mile point to point in 4:52, but that was 8 years ago when I first started running and I really don't even know if it was accurate anyway. I like the sound of mid 4:30's or better and I think I can get that.
I really have no idea what to expect though and I just hope I don't do anything regrettably memorable. ;-)
BTW, great blog you have; you're a hell of a runner.
