5 miles (!)
Ok, now I'm getting cautiously excited.
Did the loop after PT in the morning, figuring I could handle the hills as long as I didn't go crazy on them. Funny thing is, the downhill shock made me feel it more than anything. The engine is still there, shockingly. I opened with a 7:15, then kept it between 6:40 and 6:25 the rest of the way without any big effort.
I'm still employing a somewhat compressed, midfoot-striking method, as I feel like loading up on the calf all the time still might not be so good. This leaves me with more impact throughout both legs (especially the quads and glutes) than I would normally have and between that and the lack of running in the last 6 weeks, I'm coming away from these short runs feeling a little beat up. Still, I feel better than I did the yesterday after running 4 miles the day before.
Taking tomorrow off and then going for 6 on Sunday, 7 Tuesday, 8 Thursday and then going for 9-10 Saturday. If I can do that, then the following Monday, I'm going to try for consecutive days of 4 or more.
