10 miles. Track workout.
Warmed up with 4 miles to the track out past Coast Guard and Nauset Light.
Found myself moving easily and quick wearing the resurrected Mizuno Universes from last year. I modified them by putting an old pair of innersoles from another pair of Mizunos in them and it made a world of difference, so much so that I will likely wear them for Newton.
I planned on doing 3 sets of 2x400 and 1x800, but after the second 800, I realized another set would just be abusive, as I was just plain tired. I did 2 sets, then finished with 2x200.
The times were good and I felt good, despite my overall lack of energy.
the first 400 was 71, the second was 71, then the 800 was 2:26 (74, 72.) Did those exact numbers again, then followed it with a 31 second 200 and a 32.  The only thing that bums me out is that I didn't hit 30 on the last one. I tried a longer stride on the second and I really thought I was going to end up with a faster time, but alas, the dwarfish, short stride kept me lower to the ground, and one way or another, I ended up with a 31, which isn't bad, but I wonder if I'll ever get a 58 on a 400 again.
Regardless, if I can get some sleep and recharge a little, I feel I'll be ready to roll at Newton.
