January 13, 2009

18 miles with Tom and the returned Justin today. Tom actually did 16, as he did 18 on Sunday and thought it best to not do 2 of those in such close proximity. We ran the Wellfleet ocean view road, 4 out and 4 back twice, then Justin and I tacked on 2 more. Opened with a slow 7:40 first then hit between 6:35 and 6:54 for the rest, most of it right around 6:44. 6:50 was the final tally pace-wise and we felt relatively spent, but intact and not terribly sore anywhere.
Definitely in a good training cycle and if this is how we feel just entering the endurance phase, we should be in good shape.
I made it official this morning and plunked down my $116 for Boston. 15 weeks out and feeling good. I've got at least 5 more long runs before the NB 1/2 and if I feel this good doing the first of them, I can't wait to eat that course. I want a sub 1:12 for sure, and that's just for starters. If I can get 5 or 6 pounds off and keep up the mileage, the 10 miler should be a sub 54 and the 1/2 should be a sub 1:12. Still out on whether or not I'll do the Frostbite 15k this weekend in Raynham, but it would be nice to see how 5:25 felt for the 9.3.
