Acushnet Road Race. 4.1 miles 1st overall. 21:02.
Last year, this was my first race after Falmouth and I thought I had the race of my life running 21:03. This year I ran 1 second faster, but it was with the lead and I ran pretty even.
Scott, Tom and I lit out at a good clip and before long, it was Tom and I. We went through 1 in 5:03 and felt relaxed. Mile 2 had the hill at 1.3 and that's where I put a couple seconds on Tom, but only a couple, as we went through 2 in 5:07 and 5:10 respectively.
Then, I cranked it a little to try to open it up and by 2.6 had gotten a good 50 yards on Tom. Ended up winning by 43 seconds.
Went through 5k in 15:43, same as last year and then closed hard and had a final mile of 5:12 and a good kick to almost get under 21.
5:05 pace overall and the win.
