Feb. 7th, 2011

12 miles.

5 on the muddy, icy trails with Lilah.
I figured it would be pretty clear by now, as we had 2 warm days in a row, but it was not so, and the terrain was mostly a mixture of mud, from what had melted in the 40 degree weather, and ice, from what remained on top. Good stuff. Keeping a 7 minute pace didn't feel like a crazy effort, but it definitely got the heart rate going quicker than it read.

7 later at the gym @ 6:50 pace with 2 sets of weights at 3 and 6 miles.

I forgot how much I need/like weight training and it definitely helped in the last 100 meters of that mile. I felt considerably stronger and more efficient even with just the 2 weeks of consistent upper body and core stuff back in the routine. I'm going to stay with it form here on out, because I have a feeling I'll likely be less injury-prone as a bonus.
Glad to get the 12 in, as I felt spot-on when I was making that my daily minimum.
